The #dontgo REVOLUTION

Posted on Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

(I know Rep. Mike Pence says this isn’t a revolt, it’s “democracy in action,” but it’s just so much more fun to say it’s a revolution!)

The #dontgo Revolution all started on Friday when House Republicans refused to go home after the Democratic Majority shut down the House for a 5 week recess. Going on without microphones, cameras, and sometimes even lights, Republicans have been demanding that the House reconvene to vote on offshore drilling. Republicans gave speeches until 5pm on Friday and are continuing all week on the Floor.

Now, why did Democrats shut down the House on Friday without holding a vote or opening debate, you may ask? Because they knew they would lose! The American people are sick and tired of gas being $4 a gallon! The Democrats came into power after the 2006 elections promising energy relief but instead their two years controlling Congress has increased the cost of gas at the pump by nearly $2. (Yeah, that ethanol thing sure helped…starve the hungry and increase food prices, while not making a dent in gas.)

Of course, Nancy Pelosi and her minions are trying to dismiss offshore drilling by saying that we won’t see any benefit for 10 years. Well, they said the same exact thing over 10 years ago - that’s some progress, progressives! Also, as we saw when President Bush lifted the executive order off the offshore drilling ban a few weeks ago, just the speculation of drilling for oil in America makes the price go down. We can see immediate relief just by talking about it and working towards it.

So, why are the Democrats so against drilling in our own country that they won’t even allow a vote on it? In reality, they don’t WANT the price of gas to go down! They want to wean the American people off of cars in an effort to reduce our “carbon footprint” and stop “global warming.”

Anyway, this is a great issue that is really getting the base energized and putting Democrats on the defensive. I tried to go to the Hill today, but they ended early at 3pm. Meanwhile, I’ve been caught up in the revolution microblogging on Twitter - Follow me! and the #dontgo movement has consumed all my online time. I will try to get to the Hill again sometime tomorrow when they begin at 11am and will report back on “what I saw at the revolution.”

    It’s about damned time!

The RNC may have thrown Conservatives under the bus this year, but Conservatives will NEVER throw their country under a bus.

I am energized, infuriated, hopeful, and irritated. Pelosi is absolutely unbelievable. She and Reid are determined to destroy our economy, and by extension, our country.

It’s too bad no one has the courage to call their actions what they are: treasonous. In fact, the entire Democrat Party is so Socialist in its orientation, that I would call their unceasing effort to undermine our war effort as treasonous, as well.

As a Christian Conservation, I have had it with corruption in our government. Regardless of which party the administration is, it seems to be getting worse and worse.

ETHICS, People! What happened to them? Where are those people who actually live according to what was once part of the Republican platform? It takes courage to be a leader. Anyone who hasn’t the stomach for doing what’s right EVERY DAY, should get out or be elected out.

I pray that the House Republicans stick to their guns and continue until the Media HAS to acknowledge their efforts. Regardless of what our corrupt Media does, there are millions of us who are patriots in the traditional sense. We will help any way we can.

But, we first need real leaders who are willing to practice what they preach.

Are you folks the ones WE have been waiting for?

    Tired of $4.00 a gallon?! I’m tired of $3.00!

YEAH! I’ve been waiting for this ‘revolution’ for a long time. I agree with Roger Cotton 100%. It IS time for the people to be heard… of the PEOPLE, by the PEOPLE, and for the PEOPLE! Will we have to ‘take to the streets’ before we are taken seriously… I’ll be one of the first on the front lines! Keep sending out those ‘pansies’!

    AlexaShrugged and Roger Cotton,
    RIGHT ON!

I took a day off work, left my house at 4:30 AM, and drove over 500 miles roundtrip yesterday so that I could join the second American Revolution: the War for American Energy Independence.

    Nancy Pelosi,
I was there, WHERE WERE YOU? Out “saving the planet” by flying in jets and riding in Suburbans to go on your ego trip? Since you have chosen not to do your job, your employers (We the People) have decided to fire you. How many copies of “Know Your Power” do you think you’ll sell after your party loses control in the November elections? You won’t be Speaker of the House much longer, and for that, I rejoice!

    “Crystal on August 7th, 2008 9:51 am Tired of $4.00 a gallon?! I’m tired of $3.00!”

True story: I was so angered the first time I had to pay $2.00/gallon that I wrote an angry note about it on the gas receipt.

We are paying about twice what we should be paying right now. And the Democrats are to blame. Pelosi is lying through her teeth when she talks about “10 years to see a change in prices, and only 2 cents at that”.

There is bipartisan support for the American Energy Act. I believe that Pelosi is committing Treason by preventing a vote on it.
