Nancy Pelosi Invests In Energy Scheme and Water Grab By T. Boone Pickens

Nancy Pelosi may have an ulterior motive for opposing an ALL OF THE ABOVE energy plan, and for refusing to allow a vote on such a plan! READ the whole article to find out WHAT that motive could be!
An overlooked story in November (see references below) shows that the T. Boone Pickens plan involves the private control of water, which Pickens wants to be able to sell to big cities via giant water pipelines which will be built on land seized under eminent domain.
How did he do this? He did this by pushing through a “water district” which consists of only 8 acres of land and then applying eminent domain to expand that district and seize land from local ranchers which, in the end, puts vital water resources under his private control.
The Sierra Club, which you might think has an opinion that means something to Nancy Pelosi who just wants to “save the world”, had this to say, “We have real concerns about private control of water,” said Ken Kramer, director of the Texas Sierra Club. “Water is a resource, yet in some respects it is a commodity. It’s as essential to human life as air. That puts water in a different class.”
Pickens plans to sell 200,000 acre-feet from parched West Texas Staked Plains annually. His plan is opposed by water policy planners as economically infeasible. This extensive extraction will affect natural spring flows and the rural Texas Panhandle communities that depend on that water. It will also adversely affect family farming and sustainable development from Texas to South Dakota, according to opponents.
Pickens needs money and he has not been able to find investors to pay for a $110 Billion Bond he wants his new “water authority” to issue, therefore he is piggy-backing the windmill plan on to the water infrastructure development plan to use the money obtained for the wind farms in order to pay for the water infrastructure, which was his original goal.
While these plans were in the works as of November 2007, with the creation of this “water district”, the energy company, CLNE, was offered for public investment in an IPO in May of 2007, an IPO that was not advertised, but which resulted in Nancy Pelosi quickly jumping on board. Nancy Pelosi Purchased between $50,000-$100,000 in CLNE stock on May 25, 2007 apparently on it’s initial public offering.
It is hard to tell if the water scheme is the device being used to seize the land or if the wind turbine scheme is the means by which he will fund the water scheme, but no matter what the case may be, Nancy Pelosi will personally profit from whatever he does as an investor.
Nancy Pelosi is one of the richest members of Congress with a net worth of over US$25 million, which comes primarily from investments a large portfolio of jointly owned San Francisco Bay Area real estate, and, now, of course, stocks in CLNE.
While the stock was initially offered at $14 and is now valued below that amount, the low of $10 in early July of this year is bouncing back, especially in light of ads by Pickens and growing consensus that the Pickens plan will gain support, especially if Pelosi is firmly behind it.
Pelosi and pals COULD be hoisted on the own petard if new rules THEY pushed go into effect.

UPDATE 8/12/08 2:16 PPM
The initial offering may have been only 22,000 or so shares, but according to a Yahoo news item: Item 8.01. Other Events.
On June 19, 2007, the Company issued a press release announcing that the underwriters of the Company’s initial public offering have elected to exercise in full their option to purchase an additional 1,500,000 shares of the Company’s common stock to cover over-allotments. A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this report and is incorporated herein by reference.
This means that Pelosi could have purchased around 20,000 shares at $3.86, or $50,000 to $100,000 worth, which are now worth 300% more than their original value.
Nancy Pelosi says that she is trying to save the planet and prevent global warming, but the reality is that, according to disclosure statements, in May 2007 she invested in T. Boone Picken’s clean energy fuels corp., CLNE, which is the sole sponsor of a proposal in California to funnel $5 billion in state funds and $5 billion in Federal funs to this corporation which will indirectly help them create a giant wind farm in the Texas panhandle.

“When are the American people going to hit the streets? This is an outrage!”
Mmhmm. You might want to be careful with those rocks you’re throwing around that glass house - those walls don’t look too sturdy. OpenSecrets sez the oil and gas industry has thrown in $18.3M so far in 2008, with 75% of that going to Republicans. Your Rep. Culberson has gotten $67k of that so far. The grand total for Alternative Sources donations is a measly $797k, going three quarters to the Dems.
“Big Wind” (hahahaha) is throwing down 4% of what the drill in the national parks crowd is firehosing at the Republicans. You’re right. It is an outrage.
This response from Dan is typical of certain types of people: we are talking here about a conflict of interest and he wants to basically say, “well, because of THIS, you guys can’t criticize THAT.”
The thinking person sees how wrong this is, the partisan who only cares about his party, and not his country, wants to just make excuses.
You wan to talk about “Big Oil”, go for it, on another thread or, better yet, on your own website, but this is about Nancy Pelosi profiting from her so-called “stance” to “save the planet.”
As long as everyone says “this wrong is excused by this other thing I think is wrong” instead of dealing with the wrong itself we will be stuck with a government that is run by the rich and powerful, for the rich and pwoerful, and etc…

Nope Bill, I’m not saying you can’t criticize the Speaker for this. Of course you’re welcome to try. I have no idea how the Speaker manages her fund but it looks like it could be a conflict of interest.
All I’m saying is that when your side is getting 23x as much in payouts from the oil biz (even if this isn’t going to you personally or to the folks running this site), that looks mighty fishy, and people should really have some context for that.
One of the things I really like about #dontgo is that it has the potential to be an open channel where we can actually discuss this issue. I’m trying to avoid trolling as much as I can, and I get the idea that at least a significant fraction of the people on both sides writing to #dontgo are too. Not everyone of course, but a higher fraction than usual. (My theory is that this has something to do with the more social nature of twitter.)
And I’d be happy to stick with a straight policy & philosophical arguments, but that’s not the direction you’re going by opening this line of attack, is it.
Dan,
You are required, ethically, to back up your accusation with facts. Where is your proof that our site is getting these payouts???
We are presenting facts, proof, with LINKS so that people can see the original material, you are lobbing accusations that have no basis in fact, which is right out of a certain little red book that was popular in Russia in 1917….
Bill Collier
Dan said, “And I’d be happy to stick with a straight policy & philosophical arguments, but that’s not the direction you’re going by opening this line of attack, is it.”
Line of attack???
Dan, are you really suggesting that exposing a serious conflict of interest and massive corruption in which our national energy policy is held prisoner to a few individual’s interest is nothing but a “line of attack?”
Do you not even know what an “all of the above” energy plan entails?
It is interesting how certain people take liberty in pretending to know your motives in order to dismiss your argument will then pretend to take the “high road” when a clear comity of action reveals hidden motives by saying I should only address “straight policy and philosophical arguments.”
I think it is a straight policy argument to say that when a group of people stand to profit from a policy while pretending they want to “save the planet” this should be revealed. I think is is a straight philosophical argument to say that we do not want a government that responds to such interests over the interests of the People.
You ASSume that the only policy I wish to promote is drilling and “big oil.” You have me pegged wrong. I am for home portable and home affordable energy solutions and only begrudgingly acknowledge that the only credible realistic short term way to maintain cheap energy is through oil, coal, and natural gas although I beleive that solar concentrators and vertical wind turbines will enable more and more individuals can afford to make themselves energy self sufficient.
The idea of giant wind farms and solar farms controlled by governments and corps. is merely changing the present situation, where only a few oil companies control our energy, to a new situation where only a few leftist owned corps control energy.
As for me, I will pursue this issue even as I continue, as I have for 20 years, to promote sustainable solutions while realistically supporting continued cheap energy using ALL of our resources!
Please, never ASSume you know what I think or want based on just a few article you have read.
Bill
upadaria@yahoo.com
email me and I will happily send you articles I have written on sustainability…
Dan, either you are sadly misinformed, or you are just a scumbag trying to spread half-truth. Watch TV for less than an hour and you will see commercials where Al Gore himself promises $300 million dollars to “development of alternative energy technologies”. What do you suppose that means? That the great “Inventor of the Internet” is headed back to the lab to build his next great invention, or that he is investing in new technologies on one side and greasing pockets to geth them federally mandated on the other. Furthermore if you follow any of the links above, you’ll find that T Boone Pickens company has already invested 2 plus million just in California to perpeutate his ruse. So your arguments are completely baseless and untrue, if not contrived lies. Quite to the contrary, the $18.3 million of “Big Oil” money pales in comparison to $300+ million doesn’t it?
The problem you’re going to have to face is that the “woe is me” victim role that your side plays so well is out the window (”I’m just triying to have open dialogue. Wahhh!”). Science continues to prove that the big bad corporations are not really dooming us to a scorched earth as you and yours would have us believe. In fact newer and better climate data makes these claims seem highly suspect. Furthermore, now that your heavily-rhinoplastied top dog in the House is in bed with the ultimate money-for-personal-gain powerbroker, this charade is now fully exposed for what it is, A POWER AND CONTROL GRAB. And it’s quite a sick plan. Sure degrading a veteran who earned 3 purple hearts is pretty crappy. But attempting to appropriate all of our public resources into government or “friends of government” control, while purposely stifling available oil and coal supplies is as devious and evil a scheme as has ever been devised. And the fact that you defend it even though it will happen at your expense shows how out to lunch you are. You are here trying to win an argument, completely oblivious to the fact that if this all comes to pass YOU WILL NOT BE ON THE SIDE THAT WINS.
Yet you zealously perservere with your tired and highly inaccurate two-wrongs-make-a-right arguments.
I’m sure Nancy Pelosi is already thinking of ways to thank you when she bankrupts the whole country for personal gain. Let’s just see how it all works out for you.

I’m sure if you “follow the money”, you will find this website is funded by the oil industry, or individuals who make a lot of money from the oil industry. Why won’t the Sam Adams Alliance open their books and disclose who funds them? What do you have to hide?
It seems this website was founded by Eric O’Keefe. Why don’t you mention that his biggest issue was term limits, yet he’s supporting a career politician in John McCain?
Also, if more drilling was so critical, why did Republicans not take a single step about it when they controlled the House, Senate, White House, and Supreme Court all those years? It makes it obvious to anyone with a brain that they are using this tactic for a political stunt in order to blame Democrats for the energy mess. Our energy problems started when we elected two oil men. This is what we get when our energy policy is written by the oil industry during Cheney’s secret energy task force. This is also what you get when you create a pointless and endless war in the heart of the Middle East, and threaten more wars in the region. 10 years ago, under Democrats, the price of oil was only $11.50 a barrel.
DontGoIndeed,
Where do you get off saying that this website is founded by Eric O’Keefe?
I started this website, and I own it 100%.
You know the story behind the word ASSuME right?

Great site.
I find it funny that it’s ok to call out republicans and big oil,but the minute you suggest Pelosi is doing the same thing, the best argument her side comes up with is,you did it first.
Here is a fact; Pickens is trying to take, long time owned, family farm and ranch land, and Pelosi invested in the company. And for the comment about supporting the middle east, everyday, I watch T Boone’s wind turbins come off a ship and head to West Texas.
So we need to quit buying foreign oil so we can buy foreign turbins.

Re Madame Pelosi buying CLNE around three, it traded no lower than ten since the Initial Public Offering. Still, the conflict of interest appears acute, like Feinstein’s husband with Perini Corp, C Rice with Chevron, Rumsfeld with Gilead Sciences Flu Drugs, Cheney with Halliburton options and the Bush Family with Carlysle armaments and oil investments, and legal immunity for drug companies and telcoms violating Constitutional freedoms. The theory is that in a Democratic Republic we the people have the right to remove malfeasants from office. The bankruptcy of social security, the devaluation of the dollar and repeated onslaughts on our Constitution should have seen electoral revolutions some time ago. In practice, the Donkeys have San Francisco and California so in their pocket with teachers and public employee unions that nothing short of natural causes may remove her or her like from office. And nationally, the ownership of voting machines by GOP interests, is certainly provocative, as well as the insistence that there is a close race for President when Hussein leads Sydney 62% to 38% on Intrade.com.
