Congrats on getting this started! Lets keep the pressure on!

Site looks fab! FAST work, too; this is really taking off!

    They can’t stop the signal!

Republicans have had seven years to deal with this nation’s energy problems, six of them largely untrammeled by Democrats and under the leadership of a president who for most of that time never used his veto pen. What they count on is the gullibility of the American electorate. Well, I am calling this stunt for what it is — shameless posturing for the cameras. No wonder they’re headed for electoral disaster this fall. What I say is bring on the perfect storm. Let’s wash this scurf out to sea.

WS, I’m not sure how your comment has any relevance whatsoever to the topic you replied to, so I won’t dignify it with a proper retort.

  • Benson says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:06 pm

    “shameless posturing for the cameras.”

None of which are allowed to actually film the protest.

  • william smith says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:11 pm

Ah, Benson, but the cameras certainly catch the speechifying.

  • Raphael Canton says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:13 pm

    Eric,
The site looks great but I don’t understand the meaning of #dontgo is. Is it “number” don’t go? or “pound” don’t go….what is the relevance and history?
    Anyway…let get this blog going!!!!!

  • Michael Tefft says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:21 pm

William Smith. You seem to have forgotten about President Clinton. He served from 1993 to 2001, . What did he do about the nation’s energy problems? What have the Democrats done about it? I know, it is always the Republicans fault, those poor Democrats can’t get anything done because of them. As a matter of fact this problem has been going on since 1973. As for shameless posturing and a stunt , I think if you look those words up in a dictionary you will find a URL to MoveOn.org.

  • Michele Samuelson says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:21 pm

    Looks awesome, guys!

I have to echo JoitheArtist - they can’t stop the signal!!

  • unrealcitizen says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:23 pm

Great site. It seems the conservatives are finally getting their bearings on effectively countering socialist democrat nonsense. We got them up against a wall on drilling; Don’t give em an inch.

  • joebloe says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:24 pm

So let’s remember which party ontrlled Congress for 12 years from 94-06. Oh yea, the Republicans. And now they want to grandstand for their “DRILL BILL”.
If this was actually a comprehensive energy policy, instead of an asset grab for big oil, then it might be worth dealing with. Tell big oil to drill what the 68,000,000 acres they already have if they are so concerned with the price of oil. Oh wait, they say that there isn’t enough drilling equipment available!!! Plus they have been decreasing refining capacity for years to create a bottleneck in the pipeline from crude to our tanks, which also increases the price WE pay.

    Things to ponder:
Economic studies show that GDP has been higher and unemployment has been lower with Democratic administrations than with Republican. Look up partisan policy and macroeconomics to see for yourself.

  • Jenn says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:25 pm

Quick work. Down with Pel-Ho-Si’ and crew. DON’T GO, REPUBLICANS FIGHT!!! FIGHT!!! FIGHT!!!!

  • joebloe says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:26 pm

PS - Only the president can call a special session of Congress. So if you have a beef with anyone it should be Bush!

  • unrealcitizen says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:33 pm

    Re: Joebloe

Actually, as far as I knew, it was the democrats that blocked refineries, as well as nuclear plants… furthermore, why wouldn’t they be drilling in said acreage if they could? There is no motivation not to drill.. what would they be waiting for, the price to climb higher? However, there is little to no oil in those lands and even there was, it wouldn’t be a sufficient argument to justify NOT drilling anywhere else. All of above.

Oh, and while the Pres can call it, he can’t set the agenda, thats up to the Majority Speaker.

  • kozanne says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:38 pm

Wow, what a great website and in such a short period of time! You guyz are goooood…..

This is the most excited I’ve been about politics for a long, long time. We’ve got to keep it going, people! Keep slamming the House switchboards, call/write your representatives, get on your local talk radio comment sections. Our great country needs us, its patriots, now more than ever before.

    WE CAN CHANGE THIS!

  • Oke says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:41 pm

Republicans were have been in power and did not do anything and now looking to salvage what BUS (Anti-Christ) has done… TOOOOO LATE.

    Repulican’s are LOOOSERS….

Go home and cry over your losses rather than spend time at the Hill crying…

  • Daniel says: August 5th, 2008 at 3:43 pm

So wait a minute… is this how Mccain plans to make it look like he is fighting for our rights? Politics 101 folks. Provide the illusion that he is fighting for our rights by placing the blame on Congress for not getting an energy bill passed during time of crisis. Too bad Bush is going down in a blaze of vitoes on everything, that of course doesn’t help any, so what’s the difference if they take a break? Afterall, they are the ones who’ve been working hard at drafting bills. It’s Mccain who doesn’t show up to vote, so what’s his complaint? He’s got no leg to stand on. Mccain’s beef is with Bush, not Congress.

  • denny says: August 5th, 2008 at 4:08 pm

you people are nuts…start saving gas..instead of drilling. You can save more gas in this country by filling your ties to the right level and driving at 55mph THAN you can drill offshore…GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE SAND

  • unrealcitizen says: August 5th, 2008 at 4:19 pm

Does every single liberal troll make keystroke errors? Seriously, you all should go back to Mario Teaches Typing.

  • Raphael Canton says: August 5th, 2008 at 4:21 pm

    Moving Forward!
Americans must act now and these Republicans are. They deserve our support and encouragement. Let this be the beginning of something new and something great! These are the days and the times that leaders should arise. Vicious cycles can be broken. True greatness can prosper. It’s time for a new era in the Republican Party. Time for Conservatives to mobilize.

  • Paul says: August 5th, 2008 at 4:47 pm

I see that move’down notice they sent out brought the cooks out of the woodwork and shuttered them this way. Was eventually to be expected though I assume and its a true shame people think those folks represent all of the Democratic Party. Now here I got to go apologize for these nut cases when it really shouldn’t be my place to have to. So just ignore them Mr. Dontgo guys, they *don’t, heh, really know what they are doing anyway.

Anyway, a big Good Job to the guys that actually want to work for the people. Regardless of what end goal or what you are, to stand in the way of any progress simply for the purpose of preventing progress like what ol’ Pelosi is doing is criminally stupid.

Might help you all to know to, this story is starting to circulate in the Heartland and is not passing forgotten either. Some of us more moderate “I do mean, rational” folks are starting to get the word and don’t like one little bit what the crazy San Fran people are doing on our time. Those dingbats keeping Representatives from Representing THE people no matter what the outcome actually might be, is just absurd. Sure does nothing for my already drooping opinion of what I ONCE thought was a party to represent ALL of the party. Not just those in the bark loving political segment , Harvard back room jacks or street hoodlums like they been acting the last few years.

At least what I see here, is I see people that want to work when they don’t have to and want to represent the people they are supposed to have been beholden to when they took office. I also see a bunch of fellows that wants to give me a break. I’m not inclined to ignore it.

So, Go Republicans!, especially you Mr. Blunt. I didn’t vote for you last time, but I dang sure will this time if I can. Just don’t forget what kind of support you got if you fellas do get the job this time around.

You all remember how people got behind you all when you started to represent for them and don’t be going back to status quo now. I will say, at least you didn’t leave to go play at the beach or sell ‘ur new book when the rest of us cant afford to get to work or fill up the machinery for harvest time. Don’t take that to lightly either, because that IS what it’s starting to look like around here. You keep me in business and you might just be my new best friend along with a whole mess of the fellas I know.

Heck, no might to it really, you WILL be my new best friend.
Ill pass the favor back on to you at voting time to.

Nancy Pelosi will be in Ann Arbor , MI on 8/7/08. It’s a book signing event . Seems she thinks her book is more important than doing her JOB. I am going to properly inflate my tires and drive 55 for about 2 hours to get there. Is there anyone else from my democrat ravaged state who will be there, too? She will be at BORDERS BOOKS 612 EAST LIBERTY ST., ANN ARBOR, MI 48104. The phone number there is (734) 668-7652. Sheduled for 7:00PM. I hope others will make some signs that tell Mrs. Pelosi to get back to work.

  • Lennie says: August 5th, 2008 at 9:25 pm

Excellent work guys. This effort is worth the fight. It’s time to take our country back.

  • Stalban says: August 5th, 2008 at 9:59 pm

Let’s see if I have this straight. Dems won’t let us drill, pretend that the big bad oil companies are sitting on acres of oil although they have every economic incentive to drill for it and want us to look like the Euro-weenies and drive bread boxes at risk of life and limb. O.K, I get it.
Come on. We’re not stupid. Our economy depends on oil to run; it’s the engine of our economy. Why not secure our own economy and security and use our own resources while we look for REASONABLE alternatives.
Nancy and Harry have got to be the poster children of how NOT to run Congress…or anything for that matter. Guess that’s why they have approval ratings that are so far in the tank as to be historical record-setters. Who says the dems have to win more seats this election cycle. Republicans have every opportunity to pick up seats. Those of us in fly over country have just been waiting for Republicans to grow a pair and show us how badly they want those seats. This is definitely a step in that direction!

You want an opinion? Well here’s all the opinion I care to afford a bunch of people whose only path to the presidency are blatant lies, and fear mongering meant to scare the simple minded retards of this country.

WHEN you destroy this country I’ll be laughing it up in a land far, far away. Yes, I’ll be laughing. Because you’ll finally…FINALLY get what you deserve oh so much. Your all of the above energy plan is a “me too” ploy at confusing the already simple minded people of this country into voting for a man who means to provoke another middle eastern country into conflict. Your precious oil will run out…soon. Then you’ll be left with nothing but your dick in your hand and a sour look on your face. I don’t care if this comment doesn’t make it past moderation…if one of you complete and utter fools reads it then I’ll feel completely justified. I know that logic and sensible minded arguments have no place in your scare tactics, so i’ll sum this up rather easily for you. I hate you all, every last one of you neocon, chest thumping retards. I will not go down with you bunch of psychotic apes. I will not go down with you. Yes I meant to put that twice, here it is again. I WILL NOT GO DOWN WITH YOU. George Bush is not my president….and John McCain never will be regardless of what comes November. When you fill up your precious F150 with the gun rack in the window remember that it was your martyr George Bush who raised the prices this high to begin with. I have no pity for you, and neither will God. Ignorance is forgiveable…stupidity is not.

  • CptCannabis says: August 6th, 2008 at 3:04 am

Just in case I didn’t express just how much I really hate all of you conservative problem creators (and I do) let me just emphasize it one more time….Oh hell you arent worth it. And don’t bother trying to one up me with big words that have little meaning because I won’t be back. I feel in need of a burning hot shower for being here this long.

  • njguy says: August 6th, 2008 at 4:19 am

Please cut and paste this and Send this to MSM

As one of the 78% of Americans that want to drill and drill now, I am writing to you as a protest to your lack of coverage of the Congressmen acting in the people’s interest. Please get a camera crew to the steps of House and cover this story!

  • tja says: August 6th, 2008 at 9:57 am

Power to the People! Republic - affairs of the people/democratic - rule by the people. This is the only way to subvert the actions of the propaganda tools of the democrat party (MSM, NYT, et. al.), finally.

CptCannabis, been smoking wayyyy too much. As you said ignorance is forgiveable.. stupidity is not. Tell me Cpt Cannibis, what is your computer made from? How about your cell phone? Do you know? That little Euro-Weenie car your drive? They are all made from a petroleum by-product. Oh, and how many geoligists do you know? Talk to some experts, they’ll tell you. We sit on the largest supply of sweet crude in the World, enough to last over 100 years. Your uninformed rant makes me laugh, if it were not that you are so full of hatred. May I suggest you gather up some research on this issue and educate yourself on facts not emotional hate filled rants.

  • Joe Tribble says: August 6th, 2008 at 12:05 pm

Guys guys…you’re missing the point; sure pretty much every president since Gerald Ford has cumulatively fucked up the economy, energy situation, etc. But let’s not dwell on that. The only way to move into the future is to remember the past, not live in it. This website is simply a pathetic attempt by conservatives to misinform people about the energy crisis, and then, by taking advantage of people’s confusion and lack of knowing the truth, convincing us to use our democratic power to push for “solutions” that only serve to speed-up global warming and to fatten the wallets of oil companies and to fullfill the agendas of various lobbyists and their selfish wants. The ONLY way forward now is to use renewable energy sources; because, if arrogant humans continue to follow that Christian doctrine that says “God gave us the Earth to treat it as we see fit, with absolutely limitless resources and no consequences, then all that you people take for granted…EVERYTHING AS YOU CURRENTLY KNOW IT…..it’ll all be gone. That is pure, undeniable FACT. So stop squabbling over all your petty selfish desire for petroleum-based energy, recognize that you all have far more to lose than you could ever gain from offshore drilling (or any more drilling at all for that matter), come together, and do the right, nay, the only, thing you can do…support renewable fuel sources and stop being so fucking oil-crazed. The word “conservative” by definition means that you stick within a certain area of beliefs. Nature has shown, time and again, that when a species resigns itself to basically the same thing all the time, it is doomed to extinction. You have to be open-minded to survive in the real world.
